“THEATRICAL DYNAMITE” – Morrisburg Leader
Originally launched in 2016, Dean & Jerry: What Might Have Been tells the true story of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis: their incredibly successful partnership as a musical comedy duo, their bitter breakup, and successful solo careers that led to a brief reunion in 1976.
Once the hottest
thing in entertainment, Martin & Lewis dominated show business for 10 years.
Dean & Jerry: What Might Have Been transcends the confines of a typical tribute show. It is an immersive concert depicting the relationship between Martin & Lewis through the parallel partnership of entertainers Derek Marshall and Nicholas Arnold. Always maintaining their own personas on stage, these two dynamic performers seamlessly mirror the personalities they honour and present a powerhouse production filled with American songbook standards, sketch comedy, slapstick, stand-up, song and dance numbers, and audience interaction — all backed by an impressive live band. The very nature of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis and their multifaceted act makes this show unlike any concert currently on the market.
With such hits as “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You“, “Volare“, “That’s Amore“, “King of the Road” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone“, audiences are transported back to the 1940s, through the wonderful music of the ’50’s and ’60’s and taken straight through to the ’70s in a laugh-a-minute musical roller-coaster about friendship, fame and the American dream.
Marshall & Arnold match the undeniable chemistry of their counterparts, begging the question — “what if they had never split?“
